remember this

I feel bad for not contributing for the longest time to the blog. but I still don't have any new jpegs to show off so I figure I'd go all nostalgic and post up the poster I did for the first TADA show. anyway it shouldn't be too long till I have something new to show. we should get another show on the go sometime soon. its been awhile.

Stop-motion

Well, lately I've been trying a bit of stop-motion animation. I've just been using my digital camera stills and a free program I found called MonkeyJam. Click on the image above to see my test video. This is the longest one I've done so far, haha.

Pin-In

Remember I posted my proposal for the Pin-In Gallery at Eastern Edge? Remember that? Here's what she looks like now. This display case is located on the wall directly outside the gallery. Pretty classy, huh? For details or to apply, contact the gallery.

"How to Pitch to an Entertainment Writer"

http://towniebastard.blogspot.com/2005/10/how-to-pitch-part-1.html
Well, I just found this neat 5-parter on the Townie Bastard blog. It's by former NL reporter Craig Welsh who's now living in Iqaluit, Nunavut, for some reason.
Anyway, he offers up some really good tips on promoting your work, be it music, dance, painting, or whatever. He seems to know what he's talking about.
For parts 2-5, you have to scroll down and look for the links on the right-hand side.

Pink

Well, I did this one yesterday for fun -- obviously inspired by Mr. Gale (mad props). I wanted to try drawing something in PhotoShop. I've gotta get me one of those tablets. Anything that's not geometric is out of the question at the moment.

Swap a sketch today

I saw this really neat site on Drawn! today:
Sketch Swap
You draw something right there on the screen, submit it, and immediately get one back.
It only took me two tries to get a cat.

The AGO wants your face

http://www.ago.net/navigation/flash/frameset.cfm
In Your Face, deadline June 1st.
The AGO is trying to break a record for the most portraits and wants you to send in a postcard-sized image of your face for an exhibition. Might be neat to slap AGO on the C.V. (thanks Jackie).

"The Art of Managing Your Career"

http://www.culturalhrc.ca/amyc/e/index.htm
Well, I stumbled upon this 'guide' about managing your career in the arts field. I haven't read it all yet, but there might be some useful information in there for somebody. Plus, it has some totally awesome illustrations. Have a look-see, why don't ya?

Winterart

We had a good dump here on the Avalon over the past couple of days -- here's a bit of an arty picture I took looking out our basement door yesterday. I finally shovelled it away this morning.
