Hart Maraton

Hey guys,
The art marathon at Eastern Edge is at the end of August; they want your participation forms by August 2nd. I think I'll be poking around up in the printshop again this year. Hope to see most of you around, making some art and junk.

ALSO: The deadline for the DON WRIGHT scholarship at St. Michael's Printshop is AUGUST 1st. That means you get to use the printshop facilities FREE for a whole YEAR!

And the new deadline for the RCA gallery submissions is SEPTEMBER 15th.

Hey! check my fresh new website!

Me and my friend Justin Mahoney (he remembers most of the html I've forgotten since micheal coyne taught it to me) have been colaborating for last couple of weeks on a website www.patrickcanning.ca (the image should link you to it hopefully). The site has just about every jpeg and mp3 I have in it. It just up today and its a little rough looking here and there, if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Still paintin'

I'm still going with the comic paintings; here's the latest. I think it's about 18" x 24", oil on some canvas-like mystery cloth. I start out by projecting my image:

(looking a bit paint-by-numbers-ish)
And then I go ahead and fill it in. This one's looking a bit too yellow here:

I still don't know if I want to be consistant and paint the entire panels including the borders (like the first two), or play around with composition, like with the one above, where I zoomed in a bit. Anyway, I'll be sure to post more as they're completed.

Celebs

Here are some celeb caricatures I drew last night.

These were inspired by the caricatures Ren and Stimpy creator John K sometimes posts on his blog: http://johnkstuff.blogspot.com/

Whoever can guess 'em all wins a Coke!

The Studiolo

We finally have a new studio space, hooray! No excuses now. Here are a couple of geniuses at work.
And here's what I've been working on. Basically, enlarging and reproducing some of my comic panels as paintings. I'm enjoying it so far. Oil on canvas. Top one is 16"x24", bottom is 18"x30". I plan to work quite a bit larger with the next few.
