So anyway.. I got bored this weekend and decided to take some balloons and a tripod down to the graveyard and have a party. Later on I took the tripod out to signal hill.

Picked up this weird Napoleon Dynamite boardgame at the walmart yesterday for $2.50. You have to draw combinations of two or more animals... here are some of the gems we came up with. See if you can guess the combos!

S'been a while since I've drawn a new comic (tsk tsk), so here are a couple I did last year before the blog got on the go.

accidental snaps

Hey everybody, well I finally joined the previous century and bought myself a computer. So now I can actually participate in things like this blog on occassion. Here are a couple of motion light source pictures I did the other night, but unfortunitely (for the most part) they were accidentally double exposed over some other photos I took on the same role (I must have grabbed the wrong roll from the fridge). Most of the images I was looking forward to seeing were ruined except for a couple which turned out kinda interesting, and also Sobey's didn't charge me anything for the film developing or the cd made of the images. So it's not all bad.

The AGO wants your face

The AGO is trying to break a record for the most portraits and wants you to send in a postcard-sized image of your face for an exhibition. Why not? A postcard? That's nothing.

On a side note, looking at the recent New American Paintings catalogue at Chapters, many of the entries are small, 4"x6" drawings and paintings. What do you make of that?

600 words for 2000 pounds

The deadline has been extended to May 15th for the 2006 Commonwealth Short Story competition. That's right, it's a 2000 pound prize for a story of only 600 words! How long will it take you to crank out an entry for that, huh? Too good to pass up, if you ask me.

This is interesting -- you can create your own profile and upload images of your work on the Saatchi Gallery Website. There's quite an eclectic collection up there already.

Backseat Story

I don't actually have a name for this one yet, but I printed it yesterday. It's a relief print, but instead of linoleum I used this new stuff called sintra (or something similar), which is used for signs, apparantly. And it's super cheap. She's about 6" x 9" (the last one was about 5.5" x 7"). I'm pretty happy with this one too. Gonna keep going with this film still series; I've realised that the expressions on the faces always change from the original image, which is inevitable for me due to the nature of the process. It was frustrating at first, but now I enjoy the unpridictable-ness of it. Plus, I just kinda think the bold, flat style is kinda cool.
Oh, this one was from Notorious; I still don't know where the last one came from, tsk tsk.
Also, I should have a new comic up later in the week :)

I was really lucky to get into the printshop this week, so I finally editioned this lino cut that I started last year (the edition is on white paper). I hope you can figure out what's going on... I'm pretty happy with it; I wasn't expecting it to turn out the way I wanted.
